As long as you aren't the one modeling it

bravo that is really cool, The cape alone would have blew my mind, let alone the rest of the costume.

Wow, what a great costume! You did a fantastic job, great craftsmanship. Good Luck to you!

On a side note: How sad that in this day and age when someone handcrafts a fine piece of work people call it a waste of time.

It depends on how you look at it. Some people spend a lot of time and money on their car, home theatre, or even home improvement. Sure, you could go out and just spend a wad of cash buying it outright, but doing it yourself gives you a sense of accomplishment and pride.

It's the same thing with costumes. Sure, you could browse through a catalog and buy a costume that might look sort of like the one you want, but there is a certain sense of accomplishment in planning out and executing the costume yourself.

Sure, there's a sort of geekiness that comes with it, but I think that geekiness is attached to almost any hobby. Being seen as a geek simply implies that you're good at what you do and that you know what you're talking about.

This one is pretty straightforward. We encourage discussion and healthy debate, and personal attacks are not warranted in either. If you cannot be respectful to others, then don't be surprised if those in charge are not respectful of your continued privelege to post. (bolded for emphasis)
Kaeli's costume is open to debate; it's cool, it sucks, etc. Kaeli himself, however, is not. Continual flaming/"discussion" of how "geeky" making costumes is will not be tolerated.
